The Wiz and Grease!

NBC has recently decided on its new live musical to be shown during Christmastime . . . this year, the musical is "The Wiz"!  I have never heard of the story, but apparently it is a successful Broadway show based on "The Wizard of Oz."  Interesting to think of there being two successful "Wizard of Oz" spin-offs, with the "Wicked" musical.

I know the past two musicals ("The Sound of Music" and "Peter Pan") were not received very well by critics, but it is still exciting to keep up the tradition and watch it every year, and of course there is the added suspenseful energy that comes from the show being live.  Here is a link to an interesting preview video!  http://www.nbc.com/the-wiz-live/video/coming-in-december-the-wiz-live/2919460

I only know one person here, Ne-Yo, because he had a song in "The Princess and the Frog."  But they all look like good actors so far!

It does look a little strange, but I am still excited to watch it!


There was also a recent announcement that the Fox network is going to be following in NBC's footsteps with a musical of its own!  It will be doing "Grease" next January, and that musical will be live as well!  There are no previews or official photos yet, but some of the actors have been cast, including Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens.  I expect that will be a wonderful show, too!
